The developer of the vacant Virginia Towers condo downtown has filed for bankruptcy, the Journal Sentinel is reporting.

Somers man being held in shooting incident

A Somers man is being held in the Kenosha County Jail after being arrested in relation to a shooting incident Monday evening.

David Minnick, 43, of Somers allegedly fired shots into a home in the 600 block of 14th Place, Somers.

Deputies responded to a report an armed gunman firing shots into a residence in Somers, a Sheriff’s Department news release said. An occupant of the residence had been grazed by one of the bullets. Upon their arrival sheriff’s deputies discovered that the shooter, identified as Minnick (43), had retreated to his own residence across the street in the 500 block of 14th Place.

Cub Scout Pack 567 visits Common Council meeting

Scouts and leaders from Cub Scout Pack 567, based at Nash School, attended Monday’s Common Council meeting.

Mayor Keith Bosman had the students come to the front of the meeting room and introduced them to the council.

State Sen. Wirch calls for sale or rent of governor’s mansion

Looking for some new digs in the Madision area?

State Sen. Bob Wirch is recommending in a press release issued today the state sell or lease the Governor’s Mansion in order to save tax dollars and to reduce the structural deficit.

“The Governor’s Mansion is a significant expense for Wisconsin taxpayers,” said Wirch, a Democrat whose district includes most of Western Kenosha County. “Over the course of one four-year term, it costs taxpayers more than $1 million simply to operate.”
