How a student will pay for college is one of the many important questions today’s students need to address. With this in mind, College Goal Wisconsin – to be held at all three of Gateway’s campuses – can help students and potential students navigate the financial aid process with hands-on help by providing access to free information and financial aid experts.

The Gateway events will be held in conjunction with the statewide effort to be held at 30 locations this weekend, Feb. 19-Feb. 20. Gateway sessions will be:

• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Center for Bioscience and Information Technology on the Kenosha Campus, 3530-30th Ave.
• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Elkhorn Campus, 400 County Road H, 200 Building atrium.
• 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 20 in the conference center of the Racine Campus, 1001 S. Main St.

College Goal Wisconsin is an event designed to be an approachable way of learning how to apply for financial aid and get individual assistance in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the federally required form for students seeking financial aid such as grants and loans. Students and parents are encouraged to attend together, where needed.

Things to bring:

• Social Security card
• Driver’s license (if any)
• 2010 federal tax returns
• 2009 federal tax returns (if 2010 is incomplete)
• 2010 untaxed income records (Social Security, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare or veterans benefits records)
• 2010 bank statements
• 2010 business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, and stock, bond, and other investment records
• Alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

All students are eligible to apply for financial aid. Financial aid may come in the form of grants, work study, and other assistance.
