Officer Craig Birkholz laid to rest in Kenosha
Services took place in Kenosha Friday and Saturday for Fond du Lac Police Officer Craig Birkholz, a Kenosha native, who who killed by a gunshot last weekend while responding to a call.
The outpouring of officers attending visitation services Friday and the funeral Saturday was impressive. Hundreds of other citizens also turned out to show their respect and line the procession routes, some holding signs.
Birkholz’s partner, Ryan Williams, also shot in the incident but released from the hospital Friday, was in attendance Saturday and stood and saluted as Birkholz’s casket entered St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, on 14th Avenue.
Attendance also included over 20 K-9 units. Williams police dog was also shot in the incident last Sunday.
