Lack of sponsors causes Pleasant Prairie RecPlex to cancel Halloween Fest

The Pleasant Prairie RecPlex has announced the cancellation of Halloween Fest, a family-oriented Halloween festival originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, inside Prairie Springs Park.

“RecPlex truly regrets that we are unable to bring Halloween Fest to the community this year,” explained Carol Willke, recreation director at RecPlex. “This year, we’ve been unable to secure enough sponsors to help cover the costs of maintaining a budget-neutral event that is free and open to the public.”

This month, RecPlex is offering other autumn activities for families, including: the Cinderella Ball and a Harvest Trail Run on October 15; FitFest, an indoor/outdoor triathlon and a 5K walk/run on Sunday, October 16. More information about these events is available at www.RecPlexOnline.com.

RecPlex is located inside Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie. RecPlex is owned and operated by the village of Pleasant Prairie. It is operated as an enterprise fund, a structure comparable to a small business, and is not supported by property tax dollars. Funding sources for RecPlex include membership fees, user fees, rental fees, sponsorships and donations.
