Driver in Sheridan Road crash dies from injuries

A Chicago man died from the injuries he received in a crash into a tree along Sheridan Road in Pleasant Prairie Monday evening.

Pleasant Prairie Police said the driver of the vehicle,  Kenneth W. Goldheart, 21, of Chicago, was transported to Kenosha Hospital & Medical Center by paramedics and was subsequently transferred to Froedert Hospital by Flight for Life where he later died of his injuries.

Also in the car was Brandon A. Cruz, 19; Edilberto Garcia, 20; and Ivan Gonzalez, 19; all of Chicago. Gonzalez was taken to Froedert Hospital from the scene by Flight for Life helicopter where he remains in stable condition. Garcia and Cruz were transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Goldheart was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and had to be extricated from the car by fire  and rescue personnel at the scene, police said. Of the remaining occupants, only Ivan Gonzalez was confirmed to have been wearing a seat belt.

At this time, it is unclear what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, a police press release said.

A full technical reconstruction of this accident is underway by Pleasant Prairie Police Department Accident Investigators. At this time, there is no indication that alcohol was a factor.
