First uptown car show
The Uptown Business Group, Inc., hosted its first annual car show earlier today along 22nd Avenue between 60th and 63rd Streets. The street was closed off for those three blocks, and more than 80 vintage cars lined the streets. There was live music provided by the Tom Van Caster Band, martial arts demonstrations from the Kenosha Tae Kwon Do Club, Inc., 2221 – 63rd Street, and tours of Kenosha’s Fire Station No. 3. A people’s choice award contest was also part of the festivities.
People attending the free show were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, which were donated to First Step Services, a non-profit organization that helps the homeless.
Master Dennis Nelson, from the Tae Kwon Do Club, said that “this was the group’s major project geared toward raising the area’s image and marketing the products and services of our businesses.”
