“A Salute to Freedom”
For the past two days, there have been Civil War re-enactors out in front of Kenosha’s Civil War Museum. Free family activities, performances, and programs included:
- Re-enactors demonstrating Civil War infantry, canon artillery, engineering, medicine, aspects of military encampment, and civilian life;
- Real-life portrayals of Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Union General George H. Thomas, Frederick Douglass;
- Ainsley Wonderling’s special display of 19th century women’s dresses, bodices, bonnets, shoes, and accessories;
- Guided tours of The Fiery Trial;
- Kids’ crafts, activities, and games;
- Canon shootings;
- Performances by the Kenosha Pops Concert; and
- Bluegrass music performed by the Lawrence Family Band.
