Petrifying Springs Golf Course is presenting free introductory golf clinics in June.

The courses will be coordinated by Robert Dunlap, Club Manager, and Doug Shulski, assistant golf professional.

The clinics will be held Tuesdays, June 12, June 19, and June 26, from 6 to 7  p.m., at Petrifying Springs Golf Course.

Anyone who wants to learn the great game of golf is encouraged to register to attend.

The golf course can be somewhat intimidating for someone who has never played the game. These free clinics in June are designed to help alleviate your concerns by acquainting you with the game of golf. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you will be shown what to do, where to go, and hopefully how to make it fun. From making tee times to what equipment to use, and how to drive the golf carts, the idea is for you to be comfortable.

Here is the lineup of clinic specifics:

  • June 20 — Instructors will be going over how the game is scored, what information the scorecard provides, as well as explain all those “strange” terms you hear on TV like “birdie,” “bogey,” “par,” and “eagle.”  Instructors will also explain all about the golf club itself. Which club to choose and when to use it. What each part of the club is and why it helps your game.
  • June 27 — Instructors will show you the golf course itself, from where you tee off, what the green is, the fairway, the rough, and some golf course rules and etiquette. Where to leave your clubs on the way to the next tee, who pulls the flag stick, and where to set it down, and all the nuances of the course. You might even be able to drive a golf cart.

Participants may register at Petrifying Springs, or call (262) 925-8000.  The only requirement is to show up, and be ready to have some fun.
