National Weather Service upgrades local drought to severe

Persistent dry weather has prompted the National Weather Service to upgrade the region to severe drought status.

The affected area includes Kenosha County.

Says the NWS:

A severe drought will likely result in crop or pasture losses. Water shortages may become common, and water restrictions may be imposed.”

Earlier this week, Gov. Scott Walker declared a Drought Emergency for 42 Wisconsin counties, including Kenosha County.
