Man who drowned in Lake Michigan Friday identified; death was accidental

Kenosha Police say a man who drowned in Lake Michigan Friday off of Eichelman Park has been identified as Craig A. Hoffman.

Here is the full statement issued today by police:

On July 20th, 2012, at 1:45 pm, officers of the Kenosha Police Department responded to Eichelman Park located at 6125 – Avenue, along with the Kenosha Fire Department, for a body floating in the water. Kenosha Fire Department personnel recovered the body of an adult male who was later identified as Craig A Hoffmann. An autopsy was performed on July 21, 2012. The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the cause of death as asphyxia due to fresh water drowning in Lake Michigan. The manner of death will be listed as accidental. Toxicology tests are pending, of which results will not be available for 3-4 months.
