Burning ban for Kenosha parks lifted by fire chief

The city of Kenosha has issued the following press release regarding the lifting of the burning ban in city parks:

A burning ban that had been in effect since June 28 in City of Kenosha Parks has been lifted, Fire Chief John Thomsen announced today. As a result of the lifted ban, people will now be allowed to have open fires in designated areas and grill with wood and charcoal in the parks. ‘Conditions have improved enough to lift the ban but citizens should continue to use extreme caution,’ Thomsen said. Recent rains have allowed dormant grass to green up, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has downgraded the Fire Danger Conditions rating to ‘low.’ ‘We appreciate the public’s cooperation during the burning ban,’ Thomsen said.”
