Investigation into Somers cemetery death continuing

The investigation into the circumstances of the death of a Kenosha woman whose body was found in a Somers cemetery is continuing and is “very active,” according to the latest statement released by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.

From Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Bill Beth:

The investigation into the death of Lisa Mezera is still on-going and very active. Public input in response to news coverage has revealed some valuable information. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department Detective Bureau is still working to put together the time line of when Lisa left home and when she was found on Sunday morning, although pieces are filling in. We still ask that anyone with more information calls the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department at (262) 605-5102. Some have asked if this is now a homicide investigation. The answer is yes. Progress on the case is consistent, but we are not yet able to stop investigating. The autopsy has been completed, and the scene of the crime was released yesterday at 5:00 p.m.  Evidence has been collected and sent to the State Crime Lab. The processing of that evidence is being expedited at the request of Sheriff Beth. We continue to speak to, and gather information about, persons of interest. One person of interest was spoken to yesterday. That person is currently in the Kenosha County Jail regarding a probation hold. That person’s identity is not being released at this time.”
