Units responding to gas smell at apartment in Kenosha

At 7:02 p.m., Kenosha Fire Department units are responding to a report of a strong smell of gas at an apartment building in the 1000 block of 58th Street, in Kenosha.

Report is coming from inside the building, a caller told dispatch. The caller has been instructed to get out of the building.

UPDATE 7:05 p.m. — First fire department unit on scene and is investigating.

UPDATE 7:06 p.m. — Fire personnel report that building appears to have been evacuated.

UPDATE 7:07 p.m. — Fire personnel report light smell in one apartment. We Energies expected to respond within 20 minutes.

UPDATE 7:15 p.m. — Fire personnel reports problem was due to pilot light that was out. It has been re-lit. We Energies will be notified.
