“Beatles in My Garden” flower show

The Four Seasons Garden Club of Kenosha held their Standard Flower Show at the Kenosha Public Museum this afternoon.  The show was judged this morning, and then open to the public from 1 pm to 4 pm.  The show was themed “Beatles in My Garden,” and the categories were named after Beatles songs.  The Design Division, for example, held classifications such as:  “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, A Reflective Design,” “Twist and Shout, A Creative Line Design,” “Magical Mystery Tour, Op Art Design,” among others.

Here are some pictures from the show:

Since its founding in 1963, the Four Seasons Garden Club has worked to stimulate interest in flower arranging, gardening, and developing attractively landscaped homes.  The club promotes civic beautification and conservation, along with the protection of forests, prairies, wildflowers, and birds.  They strive to create an appreciation for gardening in their members and throughout the community.

Four Seasons Garden Club events support scholarships for horticulture students, planting and maintenance of the Margaret Myers Garden at Kemper Center, Arbor Day and Earth Day plantings, land preservation at Chiwaukee Prairie, gardening books grant and displays at Kenosha Public Libraries, and the Kenosha Improvement District Beautification Project.

The club currently has 37 members and meetings are held in the evening on the second Thursday of the month.  They encourage persons who may be interested in club membership to attend a meeting as their guest and learn more about the Four Seasons Garden Club mission and activities.  Contact them via their website:  www.4seasonsgardenclub.org.

They wanted to express their thanks to the Kenosha Public Museum, Top Choice Rentals, and Minuteman Press for their support.  Special recognition goes to the Four Seasons Garden Club Flower Show Committee for their dedication and countless hours of work.  Thanks also go to the many club members who participated in this event, including friends from the Racine Garden Club.  And, thank you, Kenosha, for joining us today and supporting the club throughout this year, and every year.  The president of the club is Lynda Guttormsen Guy.

As a member of the Four Seasons garden Club, I want to thank you for your wonderful coverage of our flower show. We use this show as a ‘thank you’ to our community for their support of us with the Secret Garden Walk.
And of course…we are always looking for new members. Our flower show is certainly lots of work, but it’s fun to see our talented members come together…and have fun!

    Again…many thanks!
