Kenosha man charged in Somers murder case
Javier Garcia, 52, of Kenosha, has been charged in Kenosha County Circuit Court with 1st degree intentional homicide in connection with the death of Lisa Mezera in August.
Mezera, 26, of Kenosha, was found dead in a Somers cemetery on August 19th.
Garcia was held in the Kenosha County Jail since August 20th. He was able to be held in custody on probation and parole violations.
“This afforded time for the Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Laboratory to process the evidence in this case,” said a statement released by Sgt. Bill Beth, Sheriff’s Department spokesman. “The Crime Lab made Kenosha County’s case a top priority and has been working on processing the evidence from this case over the past several weeks. Sheriff David Beth is grateful to the Crime Lab for the effort put forth on behalf of our community.”
Garcia and Mezera were “known associates,” Sgt. Beth said.
Garcia had his initial court appearance Thursday. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on October 18th.
