Kenosha Police release statement on armed robbery

The Kenosha Police Department has released the following statement regarding an armed robbery of a Kenosha business today:

Today at 10:52 a.m., officers of the Kenosha Police Department were dispatched to (a business in the 1800 block of 50th Street) for an armed robbery. While squads were en route to the call, information came in that shots had been fired and the suspect had fled the scene. The victim reported that a male black suspect entered a store at that location, displayed a handgun and demanded money. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then fled the store on foot eastbound on 50th St. The store owner grabbed a gun that he had in the store and ran out the door, firing two shots in the air to scare the suspect. A witness later said that a suspect matching the description got into a gray tall van with no windows and took off westbound on 48th St from 17th Ave. No one was injured. The suspect is described as: Male/Black, around 30 years of age, goatee, wearing a black ball cap, a black hoodie with the hood pulled up over the cap, a black coat with a white emblem over the left breast and white writing on the back of the shoulder blades, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes with white on them. This case remains under investigation and will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review.
