Person killed in train-car crash identified
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department has identified the person killed in a train-car crash last night in Somers as Erik S. Johnson, 20, of Kenosha.
From the Sheriff’s Department statement:
Mr. Erik S. Johnson born in 1992 of Kenosha, Wisconsin, was the victim of the traffic fatality. He was the only occupant. Evidence at the scene indicated Mr. Johnson had been travelling e/b on County Trunk Highway A / 7th Avenue, and attempted to brake prior to the intersection. The vehicle crossed over into the w/b lane, entered the north ditch line, and then drove up onto the tracks. The train was travelling northbound and struck the vehicle. Crew reported that they observed Johnson travelling eastbound, and they lost sight of the vehicle just prior to the collision. Mr. Johnson’s family members were notified. Speed was a contributing factor of the crash. The investigation continues.
