Other Kindness Week activities
In addition to the Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration being held today at the Marigrano Auditorium at Gateway Technical College, 3520 – 30th Avenue, at 12 noon, there are other Kindness Week activities planned throughout the upcoming week:
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013
The Kenosha Unified School District Theatre presents “Dessa Rose,” a musical drama about a white woman and a black woman in 1847, at 6 pm, at Bradford High School, 3700 Washington Road. A discussion on race relations in the community will follow. There is a $5 admission fee.
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013
A Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration luncheon will take place at 11:30 am, sponsored by the Urban League of Racine and Kenosha at the Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring Street, in Racine. There is a $30 admission fee for lunch and the program.
Thursday, January 24th, 2013
A Family and Friends Community Interfaith Service will take place at 7 pm with the Reverend Phineas Marr at First United Methodist Church, 919 – 60th Street. This service is free.
Friday, January 25th, 2013
The 13th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., birthday celebration will take place at 7 pm at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside’s Rita Tallent Picken Regional Center for the Arts and Humanities. This event is also free of charge.
Saturday, January 26th, 2013
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration will take place at 5:30 pm with speaker U. S. Representative John Lewis, from Georgia, at the UAW Local 72 Building, 3615 Washington Road. There is a $15 admission fee for dinner and the program.
